Challenge
As part of a comprehensive energy system renovation, Fromagerie de Lignières aimed to eliminate the use of fossil fuels in its hot water production process. The challenge was to replace an existing oil-fired boiler while maintaining high process reliability at elevated temperatures (up to 93 °C). The dairy industry’s stringent hygiene and operational requirements made it essential to ensure consistent thermal performance and seamless integration with existing systems.
Solution
The solar installation was integrated into a hybrid energy system combining solar heat, heat recovery, and a district heating (CAD) network. The design was developed by RWB Groupe SA and includes a control strategy to prioritize solar energy delivery and optimize interaction with other heat sources. The system provides reliable, renewable process heat at 93 °C, supporting both decarbonization and energy efficiency goals.
